Lynda I. Chung, Chair of the Valensi Rose Litigation Department, will speak on Sept. 9 about “Money, Marriage, Debt, and Death: Handling Decedents’ Estates and Trusts With Community Property or Debt Issues.”

Her presentation will be at an evening meeting of the Beverly Hills Bar Estate Planning Council in Century City. The BHEPC is an organization of estate planning professionals that offers continuing education and resources to members who provide legal, accounting, tax, wealth management, trust and related services to their clients.

Following an individual’s death, a surviving spouse, heirs, and their professional advisors often must deal with the decedent’s debts. Lynda’s program will examine at how California community property law affects probate and trust administration processes in such cases.

Lynda will discuss complications in handling an estate, which may include creditors’ claims against the decedent’s estates and post-mortem property disputes between the surviving spouse and the decedent’s heirs.

She will also offer practical tips for handling such disputes.

As a member of our Litigation Group, Lynda specializes in probate and business litigation matters, including will contests, trust contests, financial elder abuse, fiduciary accounting,  post-mortem debt collection,  and disputes between shareholders or members of closely-held companies.
