Rachelle Cohen provided training to prepare lawyers to serve as K-12 classroom visitors to deliver age-appropriate civics education.
The volunteer program, organized by the California Lawyers Association, was held on August 29. It supports the goal of CLA to help increase the civic awareness, knowledge, and engagement of Californians.
The training offered best practices for classroom visits, along with a refresher on school security, technology, and common questions. Attorneys are often invited to speak to elementary and high school students on Constitution Day, Law Day, and other events.
Also speaking at the program was Jerrilyn Malana, Chief Deputy District Attorney for the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office. Jerrilyn is Chair of the CLA’s Civic Engagement and Outreach Committee.
Rachelle’s areas of practice include business and real estate transactions, estate planning, and legal ethics consulting.
She serves as an outside “in-house” counsel to many of her clients and provides day-to-day guidance on legal challenges that arise in her clients’ business.
