Valensi Rose Managing Partner Michael R. Morris will moderate the International Tax Update panel at the 46th Annual CalCPA Entertainment Industry Conference, on Wednesday, June 15, 2016.
The full-day conference, presented by the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA), will be held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, 9500 Wilshire Blvd., in Beverly Hills.
Mr. Morris is a former trial lawyer for the IRS and a certified specialist in taxation law. His entertainment industry clients include producers, record labels, composers, music publishers, actors, talent agencies, motion picture companies, post-production houses and Grammy-winning recording artists.
In addition to Mr. Morris, the panelists will include Bob Jason and Georgina Espinosa.
Mr. Jason, with the accounting firm Nigro Karlin Segal Feldstein & Boino, is an internationally recognized tax expert who has advised many world-famous celebrities. He will discuss tax issues related to nonresident foreign entertainers and athletes performing within the United States.
Ms. Espinosa is a Senior Tax Specialist in the Large Business & International division of the IRS, with a special emphasis on Central Withholding Agreements. She will discuss the Central Withholding Agreement process, which can enable foreign entertainers and athletes to obtain reduced withholding of taxes on income earned in this country.
The CalCPA Entertainment Industry Conference provides CPAs, business managers, attorneys, CFOs and controllers with insights and practical advice for handling entertainment business issues.
In addition to international tax issues, panels will discuss estate planning for entertainers and athletes, social media issues, critical legislative and regulatory developments, and other topics.
